WHAT’S THE BUZZ? TELL ME WHAT’S A HAPPENNIN’ – WEDNESDAY EDITION

THREE MEMBERS OF CONGRESS STOP FOR A PICTURE.

+ If you have not already done so - check out the December issue of LOIS.

+ Kay Bell has the right idea at her BANKRATE.COM blog - “Kick the Congressional Bums Out!

Kay is actually reporting on recent poll results –

Two-thirds of the potential voters polled say most that members of Congress should be voted out of office in 2012. Pew researchers say that's the highest on record.”

And Pew officials report - "Fully 70 percent (of Republicans) say that most members should be replaced."

So America is taking up a cause that has become popular in New Jersey over the years – GRIP (Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians).  I once again strongly urge you to vote against all current members of Congress when they come up for re-election (as long as you do NOT vote in members or supporters of the “Tea Party”)!

+ And over at POLITIC365 Lauren Victoria Burke asks the question Is the 112th Congress the Worst in History?”.

If not in history, at least in my lifetime (and I was born in 1953).

+ Back to Kay Bell – she quotes me in her post “Year-End Tax Moves For Small Businesses” at DON’T MESS WITH TAXES.

+ TAX GIRL Kelly Phillips Erb begins her annual Christmas post series with “12 Days of Charitable Giving: Humane Society for Seattle/King County”.

To be honest, I tend to support charities that help animals more than those that help humans, so her first selection is a good one.

+ TAX PROF Paul Caron suggests some “Christmas Gifts for that Special Tax Person” (click here and here).

+ The TAX FOUNDATION has prepared a “Presidential Candidate Tax Plan Report Card” which rates the tax reform proposals of the various Republican candidates.

When I get a chance I will review the grades and provide my own analysis.

+ The LOS ANGELES TIMES tells us “House Republicans, In Turmoil, Delay Vote on Payroll Tax Cut”.

The article quotes House Speaker John A. Boehner -

Our members do not want to just punt and do a two-month short-term fix where we have to come back and do this again. We're here. We're willing to work."

So all of a sudden they want to work!  They had all year to work – but did squat!

+ Kelly Phillips Erb provides a good historical overview of the whole payroll tax cut situation in “Monday Night Vote Lessens Chances of Payroll Tax Cut Approval”.
