* NJ
will once again be offering a “Sales Tax Holiday for Certain Retail Sales” (highlight
is mine) -
“ . . . a
Sales Tax Holiday for certain retail sales of computers, school supplies, and
sport or recreational equipment when sold to an individual purchaser for
non-business use. The Sales Tax Holiday takes place between August 26 and
September 4, 2023. Sellers should not charge Sales Tax on eligible items
when purchased during the Sales Tax Holiday.”

staying on the topic, FORBES.COM’s TaxGirl Kelly Philips Erb reports“States Gearing Up For 2023 Back-To-School Sales Tax Holidays”.
* Kay
Bell, the yellow rose of taxes, tells us “Tax scammers hard at work with new fake IRS mailing” -
“The
fake tax mailing comes in a cardboard envelope from a delivery service. As is
often the case with tax scams, the letter includes contact information and a
phone number that do not belong to the IRS.
The
mailing tells recipients that in order to get their refund, they must provide
personal information, such as detailed pictures of driver's licenses. It wants
them to email or phone (using that not-IRS number) that personal data, which
then can be used by the crooks to steal their victims' real tax refunds and
identities.”
