WHO IS TO BLAME?
Fellow tax blogger Kay Bell included a poll at the end of a recent DON’T MESS WITH TAXES post on the shutdown which asked “Who is to blame for the federal government shutdown?”
The choices included -
President Barack Obama
House Speaker John Boehner
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid
Sen. Ted Cruz
Tea Party Members of Congress
All of them!
The immediate cause of the shutdown is the fact that the Republicans, led by members and supporters of the dangerous “Tea Party”, irresponsibly insist that they get some kind of “pound of flesh” from “Obamacare" in the budget legislation.
But the fact that the vote came down to the very last minute in the first place is the fault of all of the idiots in Congress, both Republicans and Democrats, for being unable to accomplish anything, and, to a degree, BO for lack of forceful leadership. I voted “All of them!”.
As I said in a recent THE LAST WORD, consistently waiting until literally the very last minute to act on serious financial issues has become the norm and not the exception. We have seen this several times with expiring tax laws. This “norm” is inexcusable, indefensible, and unacceptable.
Obamacare is not the work of the devil, nor is it the savior of the American people. It has both good and bad. But whatever you think of the Affordable Care Act, it was legally voted into law by Congress, and has been upheld by the Supreme Court. If anything should be done, it is to introduce and pass separate and independent new legislation to correct the things in the Act that are bad.
And when doing so, the idiots in Congress should actually read in full the new bill that they are being asked to vote on. They certainly did not read the original bill. One wonders if they actually read in full any of the legislature they vote on – or just “follow orders” from the party.
There is nothing much more than can be said about the idiot arseholes in Congress that has not already been said. It is obvious that they have absolutely no concern for the American public, or for seriously doing their job. If we cannot impeach them en masse then each and every current member of Congress should be voted out when they come up for re-election.
And I must add my usual caveat – in voting against incumbent politicians DO NOT vote in any member or supporter of the Tea Party!
